Hose Pipe Ban

Thames Water switched off the hose for 10 million customers yesterday.

If you're one of them, or under one of the other bans running across the UK this summer, you might think that's your feeding season over too.

It isn't. Here's how to feed your lawn without a hose.

1) Work out your ratio
Each 750ml pouch covers 150m². That's 50ml per 10m². Measure your lawn and do the maths before you start.

2) Watering can + rose head
Mix 50ml into a watering can, give it a shake and apply as you'd normally water - steady pass, no dry patches, no puddling. Repeat as necessary.

3) Backpack sprayer
Half a pouch under 50m², a whole pouch for 50m² or above. Walk at a steady pace, overlapping slightly to avoid stripes.

That's it. We have not one but TWO new feeds coming for all subcribers in Autumn. Both reformulated to help your lawn recover from the heatwaves.

Oh and before I sign off...

I won't get into a political debate, but I believe more has to be done to improve the infrastructure of our water systems.

We just had the wettest winter on record. Now we have hosepipe bans.

Water bills have skyrocketed in recent years. I'd like to think that money's being spent on fixing a system that clearly isn't coping.

Not on record profits announced in 6 months time.

Gardens aren't just decoration.

We need them for our mental health, and they're a lifeline for pollinators and wildlife that have got fewer and fewer places to go.

Don't give up on yours.
