How To Kill Weeds

If you have stubborn weeds, now is the perfect time to spray them.

Most lawn weeds need to be actively growing for the chemical to move through the leaf and down into the root.

If you tried spraying before March, you likely got limited results because the weather was too cold.

But with the weather warming up, weeds are active again. Applying a selective weedkiller now will give you the results you want.

More importantly...spraying now perfectly sets up your lawn for spring repairs.

Here is the timeline you need to know:

You usually have to wait 4-6 weeks after applying weedkiller before you can safely put down new grass seed.

If you treat your weeds now, that wait takes you exactly to the end of April or the start of May.

That is the absolute best time to seed because soil temperatures will be consistently above 10°C and the risk of frost has passed.

In short:

Step 1 - Treat the weeds now.

Step 2 - Wait a month.

Step 3- Seed the bare patches when conditions are right.

Step 4 - Enjoy a thick, weed-free lawn all summer.
