Weed & Feeds

The truth about "Weed & Feed" (and why it's a trap)

I have no issues with products that solve multiple problems at once! The problem I have is with products that don’t complement each other.

Take the classic 2-in-1 "weed and feed" granule. It sounds like the ultimate time-saver on the box, but in reality, it's fighting against itself.

Here is the science behind why it fails...

👉 Feeds need to be washed deep into the soil to have any effect. They are absorbed by the roots and can scorch your lawn if left on the leaf blades.

👉 Weedkillers need to remain on the weed leaves and not simply be washed off. They are absorbed through the leaf and will not work when washed into the soil.

Do you see the immediate issue?

If you water the lawn to activate the feed, you wash away the weedkiller.

If you leave it dry to kill the weeds, the feed just sits there—or worse, burns your grass.

You simply cannot win.

Cramming two completely different treatments into one bag also means you are halving the dosage of both, effectively diluting the mixture.

Here is what you should do instead...

Split the jobs up.

✅ Step 1: Feed your lawn and water it in thoroughly. Get the grass strong and healthy.

✅ Step 2: Wait a week or two, then spot-treat the weeds directly with a targeted liquid selective weedkiller.

As promised, lawn tips in under a minute.
